Regrettably we’ve to inform, that Covid-19 has reached Chepel. 3 inhabitants had to be brought to a ward a day’s march away, and some others do have fever.
Although the numbers of Corona positives in Nepal’s bigger cities are decreasing, remote areas are now hitted by the virus with great vehemence. And medical care is in fact not available.
Karma has been to Kathmandu in the meantime and succeeded in getting some symptomatic medicine like Paracetamol as well as masks, medical gloves and disinfectant. Covid-19 rapid tests are not available.
Karma does know that social distancing and the Corona rules are crucial for prevention and in case of illness to avoid further infections and has widely spread it within the village. However, the progress of infection in Chepel isn’t predictable.
For that reason we appreciate every extra donation, particularly as we assume that further inhabitants will need external medical help, which they can’t afford from their own income.
